Solutions

What we offer

Our solutions provide a range of functions to ensure your company meets its duty of care. At their core, all of our solutions provide your employees with a means to call for help when they need it. This can be done in a variety of ways and it’s important to tailor each part of the solution to your organisation.

There are options for the type of protection solution your employees use, together with alternatives for how these solutions are monitored and where the response is routed to.

Monitor response

There are 3 key elements to lone worker solutions:

The mechanism – the device or application used to summon assistance

The online portal - where all activity can be viewed and tracked

The control room - from where assistance is deployed

When it comes to integrating a lone worker solution, we know that each organisation is different and one solution does not fit all. We deliver the most flexible solutions on the market, offering our services in either a managed or self-managed contract. Read on for a summary of our products, and get in touch to talk about how together we can build a solution that meets your needs.

This Android or iOS lone worker App allows the end user to raise SOS alarms, leave pre-alert messages, check in and check out, and note timed activities that, should they overrun, will be escalated to an SOS event as per the predefined escalation of the user.

Functionality

  • BS 8484 accredited
  • SOS Alarm
  • Time at Risk
  • Pre-alert
  • Tracking (optional)
  • SOS Bluetooth trigger available
SOS alarm

When an employee requires assistance, they can press and hold the SOS button for 2 seconds. This alerts the operator and provides the employee’s GPS location as well as opening a 2-way audio call between the employee and operator. The operator will verify the situation and follow the pre-agreed escalation protocol for the employee.

Time at risk

When an employee is undertaking a task of increased risk e.g. home visit, they should set a time at risk period. They can set the expected duration of the risk event and they have the option to extend this at any time. If they do not extend or confirm their safety by the end of the set time their phone will alert them, they need to confirm their safety. If the employee does not confirm their safety this will escalate to an SOS alarm and the operator will be contacted and sent GPS location information.

Pre-alert

A pre-alert is a mechanism for the employee to communicate with the operator by text. For example if an employee is working alone on the 3rd floor of a building they may want to let the operator know their location within the building in case they subsequently activate an SOS alarm. This would let the operator know not only their GPS location but vertical position within the building to reduce response time.

Tracking

The Personal Guardian application has the ability to track employees. This feature is configurable for how often location updates will be provided. The feature is also optional so can be either switched on or off based on user groups.

Pick Protection’s Personal Guardian app provides a cost-effective protection solution that fits in to an employee’s daily routine.

This standalone device is ideal where employees do not have a Smartphone or if a dedicated lone worker device is required. Fitted with a roaming SIM card, the PG Pebble can provide better connectivity in some areas.

  • SOS Alarm
  • Pre-alert Voice Message
  • Man Down / Tilt switch

The operator will verify the situation and follow the pre-agreed escalation protocol for the employee.

    Man down / incapacitation alarm

The PG Pebble can be configured to send an alert if it senses the user may be incapacitated. Using fall detection technology, if the user moves from an upright vertical position to horizontal still position, the Pebble device will alert the operator who will try to establish contact with the employee. If they cannot confirm the safety of the employee, the operator will follow the escalation protocol agreed.

It’s important to select the right type of solution to best protect your employees against the risks they face. Different solutions are better suited to certain roles and risk profiles over others.

There are further options to consider on how best to monitor your chosen lone worker solution.

If you are looking for a fully outsourced employee protection solution that is capable of providing a level 1 priority police response, then our managed service is right for you.

    Managed service

Typically, the managed service option is used by SMEs and organisations that want the peace of mind that the monitoring has been fully outsourced, and they have selected the BS8484 accredited solution.

    • BS 8484:16 accredited solution
    • 24/7 live monitoring
    • Priority level 1 emergency response
    • Audio recording can be provided for use in court
    • Highly trained operators who follow your organisation’s escalation procedure

However, if you have your own control room, already use a security provider for alarm handling or would like a localised response (e.g. fellow employees to be alerted) then our self-managed service is right for you.

    Self-managed service

Typically, the self-managed service solution is used by larger organisations that have their own control rooms. For example, local authorities may have CCTV centres that can be utilised to help cut costs and increase efficiencies of existing resources.

    • Most cost-effective
    • Increased flexibility
    • Utilise existing resource, e.g. CCTV centre
    • Have complete control over your employee protection monitoring and response
    • Solution shortlisted for Security Innovation of the Year 2018

We offer several possible combinations of solution types with different monitoring options, so you can create a tailored solution across your organisation. If you need advice from Pick Protection’s employee protection experts, then get in touch today.
