Case StudyW&J Knox
“I would recommend the Pick Protection solution as an easy to use, cost-effective way to mitigate lone worker risk. Their solution has solved the problem around protecting our lone workers and caused no disruption to the team as an upskilling requirement was minimal. I hope to maintain this solution for the foreseeable future.”
David Bell, Engineering Manager
W&J Knox manufactures high-quality net products that are used across a number of different industries, including fishing, military and sport. They have been making nets and working with textiles in the same Scottish town (Kilbirnie) for over 200 years.
At our site, we have a group of workers who work alone through the night on a rota. We were concerned that these team members were potentially vulnerable should an incident occur when they were isolated and as such we wanted to take steps to mitigate that risk, whilst also providing peace of mind to our employees.
We were attracted to Pick Protection’s standalone device, PG Pebble, as it is very easy and straightforward to use, therefore the training requirement was really very minimal. Our employees wear standalone devices when working alone, allowing them to quickly trigger an SOS alarm should they encounter an incident. So far we have had no issues in implementing this solution.
The team have been positive about the solution and that we have taken steps to make sure they are protected when working in isolation. There have been no issues for the team in learning how to use the product and thankfully we haven’t had to use it in a real-life situation as yet.
