The working environment is changing, Pick Protection is committed to helping companies protect their lone and at risk employees.
James Street Vet Centre
Located in the centre of Louth, Lincolnshire, this Veterinary Centre has been treating animals of all kinds for over 100 years. They are open 24/7 and offer a range of services from dentistry to 24-hour emergency cover. We asked Heather Nicholson, the Practice Manager for her thoughts on our tailored solution.
1-49 Lone Workers
App & Bluetooth (Managed)
£5.50 Per Employee, Per Month
Our problem was that we had employee's coming back to surgery on their own to treat in-patients and vets coming to surgery to meet clients with sick animals. The vets would also make home visits in the middle of the night. Our old protocol for working alone did not seem enough to satisfy the requirements of a risk assessment. We did some research and decided to speak to Pick Protection.
Pick Protection came and explained to us their range of solutions and the functionality of their portal. There was no pressure to purchase. We chose their Personal Guardian app based solution alongside their Bluetooth device. We felt that the Bluetooth device gave our employees discreet and easy access to activating an SOS alarm. Pick Protection came to the practice to help install the app and our team love it!
We chose their managed solution because it is extremely reliable and offers a range of benefits. It is monitored by Unipart Security’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and provides lone worker monitoring at the very highest industry standard (BS 8484: 2016 certified). For us, this is important as it allows the ARC operator access to a faster emergency response than what is available to the general public via the 999 system.
Pick Protection's portal makes it easy for us to track the lone workers and their activity. We can also use these records if an incident were to occur.
Directors and managers are now confident that employees are safe whilst at work. Employees are really happy with the portal. After an initial demonstration, they find it easy to use. They each take a phone when on-call and feel safe knowing that someone is only a 'click' away if they get in to a difficult situation whilst working alone. The GPS functionality on the app allows us to find out where the vets are when out on call, which I find very reassuring.
We would recommend Pick Protection and are safe in the knowledge that any of our employees working alone will get immediate assistance if needed. It is definitely a valuable solution to working alone.
